Deniliquin musicians will come together to raise funds for the bushfire appeal

Deniliquin's best musical talent will come together next month to support the bushfire appeal.

On February 2nd, nine acts will perform at a local Bushfire Music Extravaganza, which will raise funds for fire victims and support services.

Local musician Chris Bodey joined forces with South West Music, Deniliquin Rotary Club and Deniliquin Golf Club to organise the event.

When: Sunday, February 2nd - 4pm
Where: Deniliquin Golf Club
Price: $10, $25 for family (all proceeds going to the bushfire appeal)

Mr Bodey said all proceeds will go straight to the Rotary District 9790 Bushfire Appeal to be distributed.

"Everyone has been extremely generous," he said.

"Every person or organisation who has been asked to help has been more than willing.

"And by donating through Rotary the money will go to those in need, with nothing deducted for administration."

The event will feature a stellar line-up of local talent, including Shane and Ellie, LTD, Gomer and the Girl, Lachie Downes, Mal McGrath, Sophie Butcher, Ruby Saltbush, The North Westers, Eimear Gogarty, Anna Bowie and The Bashford Trio.

"We have an incredible amount of musical talent in Deniliquin and it is extremely unusual that they all come together on the one stage," Mr Bodey said,

"This will be a concert to remember."

Deniliquin Rotary and Deniliquin Golf Course have joined forces for the event.

A stage will be erected on the 9th green at Deniliquin Golf Course, weather permitting, to provide a stunning golf course backdrop.

Rotary acting president David McPherson said the club will be providing a barbecue for concert patrons.

"We'll have food available, with all money raised from the barbecue going straight to the appeal," he said.

Deniliquin Golf Club president Tony Kew said previous concerts held with the course as a backdrop had been very successful.

"We are hoping for a large crowd so that Deniliquin can make a substantial contribution to the bushfire appeal," he said.

"Our community is renowned for its generosity and I am sure it will be on display again."

The golf club is donating all profits from bar sales to the appeal.

Tickets are $10 each, or $25 for a family, and can be purchased online or at the door.
